Fit On Tracker: Progress Report 2

Workout Date: Tuesday, August 7th
Time: 8:00-10:00 pm

Apparently, Tuesdays are a very popular time to work out.  I was shocked at how packed the gym was.  There were quite a few bodybuilder types in there, so the biggest challenge was to get to some of the machines.  Like, for example, there's only one Torso Rotation machine (which I think there should be more of), and just two of some of the other machines, like the Fly and Rear Deltoid.

I know for the most part, no one is really paying any attention to me, but I seem to like it better when there are less people.

Warm Up: 5 sets (Arm and Back Stretch)

Chest
Machine Used: Fly—I performed 3 sets of 12 using 50lb. Weights.  Handling the machine feels a bit awkward to me.  Debating decreasing to 30lb. Weights, for although I felt resistance, I’m not sure I like the level of discomfort.

Back
Machine Used: Wide Grip Lat. Pulldown—I did 3 sets of 12 using 30lb. Weights.  It felt pretty comfortable to me; I will debate with whether I should try the 50lb. Weights or now.

Shoulders
Machine Used: Rear Deltoid—Getting the machine adjusted was a small challenge, but once I was able to, I proceeded to do 3 sets of 12 using 30lb. Weights.  I am fine with it staying where it is for now.

Biceps
Machine Used: Arm Curl (without the cross support bar)—I did 3 sets of 12 using 30lb. Weights.  I attempted to try 50lb. Weights, but it proved to be too much strain.  I wanted to try the machine with the cross bar but it stayed occupied the entire time I was there.

Triceps
Machine Used: Arm Press—I did 3 sets of 12 using 50lb. Weights.  Unlike my attempt with the biceps, my 50lb. Weight usage on this machine proved to be successful—resistance but not an excessive amount of strain.  I’ll stay put on adjustment for the time being.

Free weights area was heavily populated and stayed so up to the time I left.

Legs
This time, I accidentally did 3 machines.  One machine, I did just because I hadn’t done it before, but it’s supposed to serve for legs (glutes) as well as abs.  I did the Leg Curl, Hip Adductor, and the Glute.

Leg Curl-- I did 3 sets of 12 using 50lb. Weights.  The burn was definitely noticeable; I just wish it was easier to properly adjust the machine.  One of the levers for the adjustments was very difficult to maneuver.

Hip Adductor—This machine also has a bit of “sneak burn”.  The only difference between this machine and the Hip Abductor is with this one, you bring the legs together; with the other one, you are moving your legs apart.  I was surprised when I was able to do 3 sets of 12 at 110lb. Weights.  Not sure if I will stay here or drop down to 90lb. Weights.

Glute—The toughest part of this machine is to keep my form steady as well as the adjustment of the front pad between my chest and my abs.  I was able to do 6 sets of 12 at 50lb. Weights.  The reason I say 6 sets was because I did 3 for one leg and 3 for the other leg.  I will probably either stay put at this weight for now or bring it down to 30lb. Weights.

Abdominals
Machine Used:  Lower Back Extension—After figuring out how to get on the machine, I was able to do 3 sets of 12 at 30lb. Weights.  I may play around with increasing to 50lb. Weights, but I haven’t quite decided yet.

Additional Machines Used:
Torso Twister/Rotation (for working the love handles)—I did 3 sets of 12 at 90lb. Weights for each side.  I know one is probably wondering how I went from 30lb. Weights to 90lb. Weights.  Well, it was kind of an accident, since I thought I had performed this one at a higher weight.

The good news is that since I was able to do this one at 90lbs., I should be able to effectively do it at 50 rather than holding at 30.  The drawback is that 90 felt slightly strained, so I don’t think I will accelerate my efforts quite that fast anymore.

Side Note:  There was this guy before me who was doing this one at 190 lbs.  It looked quite impressive but I also was wondering if he was doing that to show off to the female who was with him.

The swinging machine I spoke of before is called the Ab Coaster, so from now on, I will deem it the Ab Coaster, as opposed to the Ab Swinger.

Arc Trainer—I put it on Quick Start but that machine proved to be a challenge for me, so I was able to manage about 3 minutes on it before I put the brakes.

I skipped the Hydromassage bed, but did indulge in a shower and the Red Light Therapy.  I definitely felt more relaxed once I stepped in the booth.  Although, overall, I am still a big fan of the bed.
