Day 18: The Last Day of My First Job
The last day of my first
job (at the Piggly Wiggly) took place around the end of July 1996. I had to get prepared to move into my dorm room at Alcorn.
My boss, Mr. Vinson, said I would be missed.
I was always dependable and willing to fill in. (Yes, even back then, I had to deal with other people who didn't want to work.) He thought I was a pretty friendly person and
that I always worked hard.
He let me
know any time I came home for breaks I was free to work whenever I wanted.
I did take him up on his offer until the
summer of 1998.
Around that time, I was
given my first internship opportunity, and since it was out of state, there was
no way I would be able to continue to help out there.
He understood.
It was hard to compete with a definite
increase in pay and the opportunity to be in New York for two and a half
months. It was that summer in 1998 when I really fell in love with New York. I never even pictured I would even have the opportunity to even go to the East Coast. New York was one of those places where I stated, "If I ever was to really travel, I would go..." Yet in 1998, there I was, and it was the most incredible summer ever!
Day 18, that's a wrap!

Piggly Wiggly.. girl, you brought back memories. I haven't seen one of those in years. I wonder if they are still in business.
Piggly Wiggly...man, I'd never seen one of those and then on a visit to NC we were taken to one. We also went to a Food Lion *I think that's what it's called*
I'm big on the pig!!!
